What can I expect to earn after completing the National Public Power Pre-ApprenticeshipThe most common job our graduates receive after their pre-apprenticeship is a powerline apprenticeship. These on average pay between $65,000 and $85,000 per year.

Does this pre-apprenticeship requirement me to go the Union or Non-Union route?No. Upon completion of your pre-apprenticeship you will have the knowledge and connections to pursue either a union or non-union career path. Our program provides additional details on how to pursue the IBEW JATC programs.

How can a fully online program prepare me for a physically demanding job like powerline work?There is no replacing the experience you will get in your apprenticeship. However, the most common barriers stopping aspiring line workers from getting their apprenticeship are in the class room and the prep work before such as resume, interview prep, job site understanding and requirement prerequisites. We make it easy for you to take the first step to become a lineman.

How does this program differ from other pre-apprenticeship programs?The average climb school costs between $8,000 and $12,000. The average technical college program can cost between $6,000 and $10,000. Our program aims to save you time and money. What are admission requirements?In order to get most apprenticeships or ground hand jobs you need to be at least 18 years of age. For the National Pre-Apprenticeship however we do not have any age requirements or require a GED.

What is the cost of the National Public Power Pre-Apprenticeship?The total 2023 tuition cost is $299.

How long does the pre-apprenticeship take?This pre-apprenticeship can be taken at your own pace fully online. We recommend spreading out the curriculum over five weeks.

Can I complete the program at my own pace?Yes, the program is fully online and can be completed at your own pace from anywhere around the world. Many of our enrollee's take the pre-apprenticeship while working another job or in school.

Will this replace a CDL course I am thinking about taking?Our goal is to save you the additional thousands of dollars some CDL courses cost. Our CDL curriculum is focused on the tests and details that lineworkers must pass (a Class A CDL). Ultimately the best CDL prep is actually the free material from your local DMV, but our team tries to summarize this content specifically for future line workers.

The National Public Power Pre-Apprenticeship Program is a Pre-Apprenticeship and prepares students for a Registered Apprenticeships. The National Public Power Pre-Apprenticeship Program is not and does not claim to be a registered apprenticeship program through the Department of Labor.
The Registered Apprenticeship system combines supervised on-the-job training with technical classroom instruction in subjects related to the apprentice’s chosen occupation. The apprentice has the opportunity to earn a living while gaining skills, and pay raises are awarded throughout the program as skills increase. The intent of this program is to better prepare trainees for registered apprenticeships.
