Who we serve

We support those who want to enter the powerline trade. Some of our graduates had already done a technical or climb program; for many, this is their very first step. You must be 18 to enroll. Work eligibility after graduation will likely require passing physical and drug tests — we don't run those, but we get you ready for what employers expect.

Why it matters

JATC and Union Programs Want Competitive Applicants

Ground hand and apprenticeship spots aren't shoo-ins. The top performers know how to make a competitive application and resume. We give you that edge.

The Power Grid Wants You

Our national program supports the workforce that will build the next generation of transmission and distribution lines. The opportunity is there — you need the path in.

Time = Money

The most common thing we hear: “I wish I would have taken this three years ago.” Take the direct, fastest path toward a high-paying line job.

The real learning happens on the crew. Our job is to get you there — with the resume, interview prep, CDL guidance, and insider path so you're ready when you land that first spot. We save you time and money so you're not wasting years figuring it out.

What you get

Our primary goal is to save you time and money. We focus on delivering insider information on the powerline career path. Our program covers essential areas: safety training, CDL requirements for lineworkers, flagger training, and a solid overview of life on the lines.

With our 5-module, 5-week program — video lessons and study guides — you'll have access to CDL pre-trip inspection guidance, apprenticeship aptitude test preparation, powerline professional bio templates, financial templates, and a groundhand knot-tying guide. Everything you need to show up ready.

The National Public Power Pre-Apprenticeship Program is a Pre-Apprenticeship and prepares students for Registered Apprenticeships. The National Public Power Pre-Apprenticeship Program is not and does not claim to be a registered apprenticeship program through the Department of Labor.

The Registered Apprenticeship system combines supervised on-the-job training with technical classroom instruction in subjects related to the apprentice's chosen occupation. The apprentice has the opportunity to earn a living while gaining skills, and pay raises are awarded throughout the program as skills increase. The intent of this program is to better prepare trainees for registered apprenticeships.
